How to Get the Fittest Employees?
It's
no doubt difficult to find first-rate employees, but
if you get them, they will be a priceless treasure for
the company. The following are tricks to finding first-rate
workers.
(1)
Search unceasingly
Most
companies would conduct staff recruitment only after
some one has left. And the result? They have no choice
but to use the second-rate ones. So, plan ahead and
search for the suitable people in a systematical way.
(2)
Not necessarily the experienced
Experienced
workers are of course valuable, but good employees bear
no necessary relation to experience. The most important
thing is rather their potential that worths investing
in their training.
(3)
Search through different channels
Ask
the people you find suitable in any occasion whether
they want to join your company. Besides, you can also
ask colleagues and employees for referral, or seek help
from the agencies.
(4)
Attitude counts
The
greatest difference between good and poor employees
is their attitude. All first-rate workers are filled
with the desire to succeed and achieve, willing to take
risks, creative, hard working, and wish to learn and
improve.
(5)
Telephone screening before interview
Make
a phone call to the job seekers first, and you'll have
an initial impression. For example, is he/she cordial
on the phone? Does he/she pay attention to the conversation?
Is he/she professional when answering? Write down how
you feel, and confirm it in the interview.
(6)
Not just once
Sometimes,
the first impression would be very subjective, and hasty
decision may be wrong. Therefore, it is better to arrange
for a second, or even third interview. You will get
a more reliable conclusion after several times' meeting.
(7)
Don't make decision on your own
You
may invite your colleagues or superiors to conduct the
interview together with you, ask about their opinions.
This is a more objective way.
(8)
Interviews at different places
To
know more about the job seekers' attitude and abilities,
try to arrange interviews in different locations, for
example, once in the office, once in the clients' offices
or restaurants, and observe their responses in different
occasions.
(9)
Pry before making an offer
Employees'
character and conduct are very important. Therefore,
employers had better inquire more about the employees'
performance and personality before making offer. The
more recommendation one has, the more reliable he/she
is.
(10)
Hire only the best
You
must get the best, and stick to the principle of "quality
over quantity." Don't hire anyone rashly; it will only
bring more troubles to the company.
